Sustainability symposium 2024
Expert network — exchange platform
The expert network KoBI: 'Climate Optimization in Construction and Infrastructure for Public Clients' will meet for the second time in June 2024 at the Administrative Headquarters of the Max Planck Society to discuss the most pressing issues related to 'Construction for Public Clients'. The focus will be on technology and operations. The symposium will explore the various approaches to the topic with a variety of individual presentations.
Appeal: Too little is being done here! Public companies are not living up to their function as role models.
The reason for the Sustainability Symposium 2024 was this appeal to public building owners to finally apply the specific fields of action budget and procurement in a climate-optimized manner.
During the two-day event in June, it was impressively explained why public building owners should pay more attention to mapping, evaluating and aligning both the costs in euros and greenhouse gas emissions in CO2 - equivalents for each space requirement, with knowledge of their portfolio, for each decision from phase 0 onwards, and to CO2 - target values.
Addressing the 'new GHG currency' will directly raise questions about awarding/procurement and the public company's own role as a developer/motivation. Indirectly, all 'sustainability topics', whether general or specific, will have to consider these aspects.
